The US has more knive crime because the US has alot more people in bad parts of towns where violent crime is a way of life. Violent crime is not caused by owning a knife with two holes in it, or a gun that's black with a shroud on the forend.

In the UK if someone wants to stab you, there is nothing you can do about it. The police won't do anything and if you fight back with enough force you'll be arrested while the assailant goes free, because the police in the UK can't be bothered to catch the guy.

The reason there are school shootings is because they are easy targets and those people who do them are made famous. When there was a school shooting in the UK they increased security at schools, which the US did not. If people who didn't belong there or weapons can get into a school nothing is stopping it. One doesn't need to be an economist to know about the ripple effect. If it cost the exporter more to export he is going to raise his price, if it cause the importer more to import he is going to raise his price. If it cause the wholesaler more to purchase goods he is going to increase his prices and if the reseller has to pay more for his goods the reseller is going to increase his prices. Honestly, I thought that mostly happened under President Bush Sr. with all that "New World Order" crap he was trying to sell. We lost a massive amount of manufacturing jobs in just that short time. But I'm not up on how actions in the 70s played out.

Nixon opened the doors to "trade" with China. I think it not necessary to look further for the opening of the flood gates where manufacturers could not resist profits at the cost of US Jobs and technical expertise.

We (my company) import about 50% of all our goods from China. All tariffs are simply transferred to the price of the goods to the consumer. In fact some of our manufacturers simply have other factories in Vietnam and do final completion of the goods there.
