Ford might kill the F-150 Lightning, the EV that was supposed to change everything

I don't think anyone was confusing a large SUV with a truck but obviously the same points do apply. Do you have 4-5 kids? or do you want others to think you haul around 4-5 kids? I looked it up, the average American family seems to have 1.6 kids.

I just looked up the power output for the "under powered" 2025 Corrolla. It's 169HP. That's actually over double the power output of my own car and I've happily driven across Europe in that. I also looked up the reliability of the Geo Metro and it appears pretty good, mostly because there's little to go wrong with them. Out of curiosity, I also looked up the reliability of your favoured Ford Explorer and that appeared very mixed.

American advertising shows truck drivers to be heroes and drivers of ordinary vehicles to be losers. From your post I can only assume the advertising is working.

All right I don't know where you're getting the geometros statistics but my dad's a mechanic I grew up in a shop My Metro had a weird three cylinder engine and he constantly had them in that shop to get them fixed. As far as the 169 horsepower you're getting I'm going to just be forced to disagree car manufacturers love to fake those numbers if you actually drive one they feel underpowered.

As far as people load you seem to be under the impression that you just transport your own kid That's actually not all that common here in the States oftentimes if your kids involved in an activity or has friends which most kids would You're going to be using your car fairly often to also transport their friends. You might also be using it to transport the dogs to go get groceries to do any number of things where the space is needed. On top of that comfort is king in the subcompact it gives you zero comfort.

Welcome to the club, Ford. Porche just axed its EV performance models. Consumers have finally gotten smart and realized for most--except lunatic environmentalists--hybrids make the most sense.

If I was forced to pick between a quick google search ("Geo Metro reliability" -> showing reliability surveys and owner reports) and your dad then I'll with for the former. Sorry :)

Regards power output. Again, if I'm forced to pick between manufacturer reports and independent tests and your (hopefully unbiased) opinion, then unfortunately I'm also going with the former.

I only drive a city hatchback but it's coped fine with 4 large teenagers plus their rugby kit and me driving. Again, it easily copes with a weeks shopping and there would also be space for dogs if, for some bizarre reason, I ever wanted to take them shopping. Yesterday I took 3 large bookcases, a wardrobe and 6 bags of rubbish to the tip in it - the car was full but not a problem. We also drive across France in (about 700 miles) and it's not uncomfortable. 99% of the time though it's just my wife in the car driving to the local shops.
