You need to use Paperclip method

I found the EEPROM chip for my Dell Latitude 600m under the PCMCIA module, as posted elsewhere in these forums - thank you all.
My D600 has 24LC04B, not 24C04 - but I am guessing that it's similar. A data sheet that shows pin numbers / positions for the "paperclip" method can be found at pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/74894/MICROCHIP/24LC04.html
Although I have looked at many, many posts about this method I still cannot get my EEPROM to short out correctly and give me the "Manufacturing Mode" screen or allow start into BIOS setup. Of course, the boot order is hard drive first, but even with HDD removed I cannot boot to a CD - get the gray password screen.
Using "mod.shorter" method of grounding one side of the "paperclip" (am using a fine-tip probe from a voltage meter kit, connected to ground on the motherboard using a short jumper with alligator clips on each end) and trying various timings on pins 5 and/or 6, I always get the gray password screen (except a few times a black screen with "Invalid System Configuration - run Setup" that does not respond to any keystrokes).
Have tried with CMOS battery connected/not connected, main laptop battery connected/not connected, etc. If anyone knows the best timing for shorting on the "paperclip method" please post...
I have found -595B password cracks for sale, and also a couple BitTorrent downloads (also for pay) but don't trust that after payment I will get anything that will work.
