need help with bios password for a dell d620

Ok....my son kept figuring out my pw on my laptop and I kept changing. Now, I can't remember what I changed it to. So I went to change the bios setup to bootup using a cd drive where I then found it had a bios pw, which of course I don't know. I have spent days on this forum and internet trying to figure out how to do fix. According to this site removing the cmos battery won't work, using the paper clip method won't work and jumper on motherboard won't work. Is there a way to fix without losing all information on my hard drive?

I just realized that my laptop is setup to boot from Disk Drive then HDD. I saw instructions for creating the Dell Boot CD on this forum but not for a floppy. Can someone help me with that or is that even an option?

Actually joksy, did you try the HP password generators attached the bottom of this post: https://www.techspot.com/vb/post610782-4.html (note specifically this post is intended for Dell help)

You said you tried everything, so just wanted to make sure
Also if under warranty, both Dell and Hp or any manufacture should be able to help
But Dell specifically have a $49 one off payment for users outside warranty
It's a shame HP don't do that too.

Yep, like i said i try'ed everythin, even taking the laptop apart and removing the battery, just to figure it out that it won't work that way either. :suspiciou To many times to.

I have two old HP Omnibook 6100 laptops(working one is in bad shape, the one that has the bios passwor in good shape), so i tought if i can't remove the bios password, i could take out the bios chip from the working one(the one, that is in "bad shape") and put it in the another laptop (the one, that is in "good shape"). Would that work?

Is there a way hpgl can generate a code(password) for me to?

Dell latitude D820 BIOS password

Hi Folks,
I bought the above-mentioned item on Ebay and the system is protected by a BIOS password. The BIOS service tag is: 54NB2B1-595B. Can someone kindly help me with the Dell BIOS Master Password for this unit based on the above-mentioned information. Please note that I know about the paperclip method. However, my current document for removing the BIOS password for the Dell systems does not cover this unit, so I do not feel that I should pursue this route neither do I want to pay $75US to those guys on Ebay. Please if you can, kindly email me the master password.

This is weird. I received an email telling me there was a reply to my post but I can't seem to find. Anyways, I created the DST Software bootable floppy disk and removed the BIOS password. Unfortunately, I still can't get pass the Power On Password. Therefore, I tried the Ophcrack LIve CD. But, when it boots I get the following error:

Could not find kernel image linux
boot:

Does anyone know what this means? I have windows and created the cd for windows so I'm not sure why the Linux error. I can't seem to find anyone that has encountered this error.

The Ophcrack Live CD is a Linux BootCD it is made to recover Windows forgotten account passwords.

If you receive a "kernel" fault, this means that there is something wrong with the boot part of the CD image. ie You just need to re-create (download and burn) again. It also means that you can boot from a CD (hence the message) which also means that you likely have a Hard drive password only (or who knows maybe just a Windows password) If you just have a hard drive password, all you need to do is purchase a new hard drive. Therefore all solved

Thanks. I tried it on two different cd's which didn't work. So I downloaded the file again and this time the file was pretty big. So something must have happened. Hopefully this will work as I have a ton of pictures and music and personal files on it that I desperately would not want to lose (external hard drive broke so no backups). I will let you know!
