I have no problem with Intel having issues with their first try but I have a problem with them trying to charge as if their card was comparable with the competition. It should be half the price. We don't need Intel doing in the graphics card market what they did in the CPU market.

70 FPS min doesn't cut it for a competitive game, but it's not terrible for single player.

You can buy a 200 USD GPU and still have 70 fps min in older games. So

Not saying it's a bargain, just that Intel delivered a workable video card.

Unless you are chasing maximum FPS those numbers are perfectly playable in most games. And the drivers "should" mature over time. Is it wrong I still kind of want a A770?

So, if can buy for X amount of money the option A which gives you at least the same or much better framerate and drivers and, option B, which gives you immature drivers, hardware and mostly much less performance...... why would you spend that money on option B?! Only if you are a masochist... but hey, everyone should choose freely.

Exactly. I won't spend a dime on such cards but I imagine that Intel's plan is different: in the future OEMs that want to access higher end chips will be forced to use Intel GPUs and/or will have big discounts.

With the rise of game streaming on Twitch and elsewhere, perhaps you SHOULD be paying some attention to encoding performance. There are gamers who will use it.

Darn good showing for 1st Gen. Let's see what they come up with down the road. They could definitely become a contender in at least the low and midrange sector.

No it's not wrong, but keep in mind you won't be helping an underdog, you'll be helping Intel.

These cards may be future hidden gems, IF Intel can work through the driver issues.

The only problem is that Intel's already too big as it is. An even bigger Intel is the last thing that we need.

No matter what, Intel's gonna Intel. That's why I won't touch their stuff no matter how good it is. AMD and ATi have been good enough for my purposes since 2008 and have saved me a crap-load of money in the process.

Sure but you could also say that Intel IGPs are "workable". Intel's not new to the GPU game, their GPUs have just historically sucked in the most royal fashion. Back in the day, S3 Chrome (VIA) was better than Intel but since so many people were drinking the blue kool-aid, VIA had to give up on producing S3 GPUs.

Sure, but who (other than Linus Sebastian) actually WANTS to support a corporation like Intel?
