Samsung's slim, external portable DVD writer, SE-S084F, is ideal for netbook and mini PC users. This new and very portable external DVD drive weighs less than a pound and is 20 percent smaller - an easy fit into most laptop bags or briefcases.
The SE-S084F DVD Writer can burn to CD and DVD media at fast speeds (6X DVD+R recording in dual layer, 6X DVD-R in dual layer, 6X DVD-RW and DVD+R recording and more...) and is powered by a USB 2.0 connection, eliminating the need for an AC adapter, making this optical disc drive an excellent fit for those users on the go.
Samsung's new optical disc drive, the SE-S084F DVD Writer, is based on WriteMaster technology enabling multitasking and high-speed writing, irrespective of the performance of the PC. The drive is also powered with a special Tilt Actuator Compensation Technology for reliable writing for all areas of the disc. Buffer Under Run technology is also included to prevent writing errors that result from writing speeds that exceed data transfer speeds for uninterrupted PC use.
The SE-S084F DVD Writer is certified to be compatible with Windows 7 or MAC operating systems and provides automatic firmware updates.Caution:

When firmware upgrade is completed, your computer will automatically reboot. So, save open files and close all programs before starting upgrade.
The firmware upgrade process of this company is organized so that the entire upgrade process is completed after the PC is automatically rebooted.
Therefore, do not turn off the PC power supply by force while the upgrade is in progress.
If the ODD does not operate normally after the firmware upgrade, normal use will be possible if you proceed with the firmware upgrade process again.
