AMD FX-8350 & FX-6300 Overclocked: Real world power to performance testing
Intel has been beating AMD on every front but price for a couple of generations now as the Bulldozer microarchitecture and its descendants have had an unpleasant uphill climb. Power consumption, performance per clock, it all takes its toll. However, we took a couple of AMD's most popular chips for a test drive and found that things aren't anywhere near as bad as benchmarks might lead you to believe. Quite the opposite, actually.
AMD A10-7800 Kaveri APU Review: 4 CPU + 8 GPU
AMD promised many new APUs when unveiling its Kaveri architecture in January but until now was only able to deliver two, the $160 A10-7700K and $170 A10-7850K. Today we'll be looking at the $155 A10-7800, which comes in 45W or 65W TDP modes and has a full-blown R7 GPU featuring 8 CUs with 512 SPUs and 32 TAUs like the unlocked A10-7850K.
AMD Beema & Mullins Preview: Low Power, High Performance Mobile APUs
Intel's Bay Trail platform and low-power Haswell offerings may be the go-to choice when it comes to mainstream Windows tablets and laptops, but AMD believes that their next generation chips will be the best. A refinement of their work on APUs in the past few years, the new chips, 'Beema' and 'Mullins', are set to be strong contenders in this segment. Both products make use of AMD's new Puma+ CPU cores and a GCN GPU with 128 compute cores at varying frequencies.
Testing AMD Kaveri's Dual Graphics Performance
Currently Kaveri APUs can be paired with one of two discrete GPUs: the Radeon R7 240 and R7 250. Both are sub-$100 cards that we wouldn't typically recommend gamers invest in, but when combined with the A10-7850K's on-die GPU, we could see performance that has bigger implications for value-oriented builders.
AMD A8-7600 Review: 'Kaveri' APU Put to the Test
AMD really is focused on gaming performance with Kaveri and believes this is where its latest APUs have a serious advantage over the competition. The company's latest processors are being pushed as budget solutions for modern 1080p gaming, though on paper the Radeon R7 doesn't look quite up to the task...
