Dell BIOS Password Removal

Hey guys, without reading every page of this thread, is this thread mainly for Dell LAPTOP BIOS passwords?
Because I've got a Dell Dimension 2400 desktop with a "Setup Password", which does not erase when the BIOS is reset.

Does this thread cover that situation? Or can you tell me the quick fix?

Hello friends.

I have read all 22 pages so far of this thread But I couldn't find any info about a Dell Inspiron 4000. I think that the solution is to use the paper clip and then the software given by Paragon33. But my problem is that I can't find this chip in my laptop. Anybody knows where is located? and if I have to uncover only a small part of the laptop or open it completely?

Sorry for my bad english

Thanks in advance

M

Malcolm, I got your email, but have been busy with other matters today. I am getting ready to send the files out to you and three others in a short time. The C600 and Inspiron 4000 are hardware clones. There are 2 pictures in the Additions file with the chip location on the bottom side and the hole I cut in the aluminum sheathing(after removing it from the board, cutting the hole and then putting it back)

Hey Paragon any tips on getting to manufacturing mode? I just can't seem to get that screen to come up anymore. I got it to come up maybe 2 times but wasn't fast enough to hit FN-X before the screen disappeared. I was thinking is it a different pin short combo to get this to come up as maybe I was accidentally shorting different pins since thats easy to do? Thanks man!

I used 4/6 pins. Another user fed back that he was successful with 4/5 pins. The 4 pin is the VSS (ground) on the 24LC16B chip; pins 1, 2, and 3 are not connected internally

FINALLY! It was that manufacturing mode that did the trick. Had to short pins 3 and 8 to get it to come up. Thanks again Paragon for all your help!

MOTHER!! Defeated the System password, now I'm met with a hard drive password. Its a Hitachi. Oh well at least the laptop is now usable. I'll just have to buy another hard drive.

Paragon33 thank you for the files I got it them on my email , I got the lap top open but unable to locate the chip on dell D610 please I need advice on chip number and where to locate it I been looking on the file you send me but only shows model D600 and I don't see the chip # on my model..... :( :(

Remove the PCMCIA Hardware and lift the rubber insulatig sheet. Remove the PCMCIA Hardware and lift the rubber insulating sheet. I believe you wiil find it there; several types have been reported, but the D610s' chips all have 24 in the type number, are 3mmx4mm and have 8 connections. Pins 4/6 and 4/5 seem to work the best

Hey guys I got the pci card remove but I don't see the chip yes there are 4 chips each one with 8 pins 2 had the same part# P46AB, other PF1DR,other 12N003L the question is can I try all 4 with out damage the laptop,, thank you in advanced ,,,

NO-O-O! Using the wrong chip as target can ruin your board. If it is not there, it may be on the bottom of the board and under a metal brace

paragon33 thank you for you help but I think F*&*"?> up I got desperate last night and I jump 2 of the chips I mention on my last post now the fan does not turn on and the laptop does not turn on well it does turn but it turns off rigth way now what is next please help.... puke: puke: puke:

Get another board; that one is labeled R.I.P. Patience is virtue, particularly where laptops are the subject. I warned you most emphatically not to do that. You are the second person to fry a motherboard by shorting the wrong chip

Anyone tried Paragon33's solution with a Latitude c610?

Hi everyone, First: Thanks to Paragon33 who kindly send me the docs and software for overriding the bios password.
Now, I tried this: short pins 3 and 6 of the chip and then press on, so the laptop doesnt turn on, it keeps turned off and nothing happens.
Tried to press on button and then shortcut pins 3 and 6 od the chip, but nothing.
Does anybody have succed with a Latitude c610? help me please!
PD. Paragon33: what a great guy who shares his knowledge without asking anything!

The first thing they are going to ask for is the previous registered Dell owners' name(s) and they do not mean the person or dealer you bought it from necessarily, as they may have gotten it used and resold it. If you do not have that info, do not waste your time on the phone, as they will not help you. If you want to try online, this link is to the online forms
http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/change_order/en/tag_transfer
There is also an International form
http://www1.us.dell.com/content/topics/reftopic.aspx/pub/ccare/transfer_intl?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs
If you can not get Dell to help, contact me at email removed

I also have a picture that shows where the chip is at. If you want it.

You have been eating too much fermented applesauce. That will have exactly zip for help on a Dell. Why don't you read back through this thread, as this recommendation has been shot down a number of times before?

Tadaa

Finally I have disabled the password - thanks to Paragon33 and his great guide.

I have found the EEPROM chip on the backside of the motherboard behind the PCMCIA slots.

If anyone of you will need help with his Latitude XPi or similar I will help with pleasure.

Paragon33 - youa are doing great job here :)
