ahh the man himself, morning Paragon..

After posting the thread I did a read back through the posts and found the link supplied by another poster which I assume is your material, after much faffing around (that rapid share sucks) and changing my proxy server I managed to download the software , which I must say is so comprehensive that all I can say is wow, it covers so many different models and has so much info that anyone using it shouldn't have any problems unlocking a lappy with it.

My Owner,Asset and Service tag is now set and passwords can now be used.

Please ignore the email i sent as I am now fully working.

Thanks
Jud
PS is there any problem with holding the software on my website for others to get access to or would you prefer to be in control of who has it.
You may do with it as you wish, as except for the Additions file and the info files about the DST- and DST-CDR-ISO files, it was not mine to begin. I am 75 years old & uncertain of how long I will be around; I would hate to think there would not be someone to pass on what we have started in this thread.

please help

hi all,

i have a dell latitude cpx
i have shorted the 24c02 chip on pins 3 and 6. i removed the short off the chip.
i got the manufactors screen, (with the hit fn + x). which ment it worked.
so thanks for all your help,

but i have now closed everything up and the laptop now switches on for like 5 seconds (the fan doesnt spin) and the power and hdd light is on for those 5 secs and then it switches off. when i got the manufacturers screen first it booted with a blenk screen with the lights on and the fan didnt spin, then after like 15 seconds it just kicked in and booted to the screen with the fan spinning and all was fine part from the delayed bootup. but i got the screen non the less, but i dont know whats happened now

i dont know why or what to do, please share any advice or solutions if you have any.

should i try shorting it again??
what can i do, i have found threads here

that have had the same problem and left it for a few days and then it booted fine......

thanks in advance for any help you provide!!!

RSG
Contact me at email removed You need to run the DST floppy I can provide to delete and then rest your Service Tag to restore normal operation after the shorting procedure. You need to do that even if your laptop shows no Service Tag Installed from the shorting procedure. Fn+X does not always suffice to restore normal operation

still in manufacturing mode

Paragon33: thank you for the email, i have reset the service tag to the original and run the dst cdr iso that you provided.
so thats great, it is how ever still running in manufacturing mode, where by when i power the pc up, it still has a blank screen and the hdd spins but no system booting or fan spinning, and only after like 15-20 seconds the pc starts up and the system fan starts spinning and the pc boots to the manufacturing screen and continues to load to windows from the hdd.

i have tried pressing the fn+x to return it to a normal mode but it is not working.

any advice??

 and once again thank you soo much for all your help and advice (and i speak on behalf of all the techspot members that you have helped) it is much appreciated and you are truely a genius in my books, i would not be able to do it without your help!!!!! :hotbounce

CPx J 750GT

I have a CPX J 750GT (BIOS Ver A16) that I want to attempt to remove the password from. This is a 595B version so the Latitude_MasterPW.exe does not give the correct main password. Any suggestions?

I already know where the chip is and it 24C02WS (8 pins).

has any body got any idea where i can find the chip on a c810 ( i have been all over it ) or what the number on the chip should be
I can not send files or picture in here. The chip is under the edge of the Fixed Optical Drive Guide and accessible by removing the Keyboard(4 screws and the connector), the Power Switching board, and the Guide frame(2 clips and 3 screws) The chip will have a "24" in the type number, is 3x4mm in size with 8 connector pins

manufacturing mode????????

does anyone know how to get the dell cpx to run in normal mode again??????
i have run the dst cd iso and reset the tag to normal (what it was) but cant get it out of manufacturing mode, please help!!!!!!!!!

thanks in advance

Hi Paragon33,

I've been reading your posts and i hope
you may be able to help me.

I have a dell latitude d410 and my brother has set the
admin password in the bios. He has disabled the option
to boot from floppy, cdrom, usb storage devices. He's
in IT so he wanted to make it secure in case i got
mugged going to university but he now can't remember
what the password is.

I have contacted dell support but they said it's not
registered in my name so they can't help me. It must
be in someone elses name as i bought it off ebay.

My problem is that the windows registry has become
corrupt and i need to re-format the laptop but i can't
as i can't change the boot sequence to boot from cd as
the bios is protected with a password. My Dell tag
ends with -595b. I have seen you mentioning the Paper
Clip method as latitude.exe doesn't work for me.

Could you please help or send me the pdf file along with
anything you may think could help me,

thank you,

This Actually Works! I have been pulling my hair out and tried suggestion after suggestion to no avail. If you have a Dell laptop and you need to get past the BIOS Admin Password, try this, Latitude_MasterPW.exe,The Master Password actually works, unlike most of the other suggestions I have tried. No need to get a new motherboard liike those Dell tech's say. I have my Latitude C600 up and running like a top now. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You Baldanders, you are a Savior.

If you got that Utility to work on your C600, you should post EXACTLY how you accomplished it, as most people simply swear at it instead of by it.

Hi,
don't forget that Masterpassword genereator only works with certain Service tags, I know I had one ending in 595B and it wouldn't work at all and had to resort to the paperclip method (well a variation on it).

Glad to hear tho that you got your Lappy unlocked, I know the feeling when I finally got mine to work.

guys can u help! my dell cpx h500 gt, i cant get past the bios password even after putting in the same password as origanl.but with no avail. The service tag ends with -595B... What can i do?????

Dell Latitude CPI - Protected by password

I am writing for a friend. She cannot get into her Dell laptop.

It gives her the gray screen.

etc. -
"Please type in the primary or administrator password and press enter".

Is this the BIOS password?

This is her Service Tag - 9IV44 for the CPI computer.

I hope we don't have to take it apart.

It was working and than she started getting this screen. We cannot get passed it.

Please help.

Hi, I also have an Inspiron 1150 and I have the very same problem as my other members on the forum. Is it possible to also get the disk that will reset the Tag. PLEASE!!!!?

Password

The password I am looking for is not the XP administrator password. It is at the beginning of the boot up, before it gets that far.

Am I posting this in the right place?

This is very recent since I posted the original on the Techspots. Dell changed the EEProm Chip sometime after the Latitude C840/Inspiron 8200 clones from a 24C02 to a 24LC16B chip and the shorting trick does not work on it. It will get you through the grey screen, but it does not clear the chip to Manufacturing Mode FF and the software will not reset the Service Tag( although it says it has) After a reboot or two, back comes the grey screen again; I did this 5 times last night on an Inspiron 1150 with the same results. The software I have will not help you with this chip on the board. Sorry.
UPDATE!!
Since I originally posted this, I have found that this 24LC16B chip had to be shorted using a different set of Pins (4 & 6) instead of 3 & 6. It cleared as readily as the others I have done and the laptop was returned to the sender who was pleased with the results

How long did you short the pins for, atleast 10 sec?

Lizwool and aali,
You both need to contact me at email removed for the instructions/files and software. When you do, tell me your model number, do you have a floppy drive for it, and are you getting the infamous grey screen asking for a Password which blocks further progress?

aali, when you short the chip on this board, you must wait delay from1-7 seconds after turning it on before shorting. When you do short, if the board powers down, you were early. If it does not shut down when shorted, hold the short until you either get the Manufacturing Mode Screen or the grey screen comes up again. You are looking for a "Sweet Spot" where the boot is committed, but the grey screen process has not started. You will need to continue repeating the shorting at varying delay times until you hit that spot just right, and the chip will then clear to MM Screen. Pin Sets 4/6and 4/5 seem most productive; avoid shorting Pin 8-the upper left corner- as it is a voltage connector, and may ruin your board. 2-4 seconds seems the most common delay times reported. You will still need my DST software to run afterwards to restore your Service Tag and restore normal operation. Contact me at email removed

I have never seen a 2200, but lately Dell has been hiding the chips under hardware and the rubber insulating sheets under the hardware. The Chip is 3mmx4mm in size, has 8 connections and should have "24" in the Type Number stamped or etched into its surface(ex. 24U05, 24LC16B, 24LC256, KS24C04 are a few) There has been one very new addition- a 93LC46B and hopefully you do not have that puppy! The only one of those I tried was on a Inspiron 1000 and I could not crack it
