Have you download Dell's D600 Service Manual? If yes then read it and dismantle it to find the correct EEPROM in this thread (many many messages mentioned here how to locate that ROM) and do the paperclip ROM erase.

Well Igot into Manf. Mode by shorting the pins but I Cant get past that If I let It Sit at That screen for a bit It then goes to the password screen and the service Tag Number has all xxxx's. Now. until I hit enter then the tag Comes back. any Ideas?

At the Manf screen press FN and X and it should then clear.

Thanks Sam for joining in the forum, I have been a bit busy of late so it's nice to see someone who has had success helping out, a few more should try it instead of getting the job done and then disappearing into the sunset :grinthumb

Have you tried this tool? If you haven't, I have and one other user tried it successfully on a D610. You are too hung up on paper clips and this tool serves the same purpose. On the 93 series of eeprom chips, ground is pin 5 and the pins to use with the other contact are 2, 3, or 4, but the principle is the same. Besides, I do not like naysayers without at least checking, but since this an open forum, you are welcome to your opinion.Your much touted Paper clip Doc has many errors, but I have not taken you to task over that.

Dell Latitude CPi 300A Admin password removal

Can someone e-mail me a backdoor admin password for my lappy?

Service Tag is "WG7L5"

- it will let me run it with an OS that uses floppys to boot it... running Windows ME is tiresome... the config bios is disabled and I need the Admin password to enable config.

- bought it from my next door neighbour... who bought it from a guy... who bought it from ... etc etc.

I tried to run latitude.exe from cmd prompt and it wont allow me to enter a service tag... and I dont wanna dismantle this thing... I build PC's not maintain lappy's...

Thanks for understanding my ignorance to the lappy... dell makes great doorstops... LMAO :knock:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/judslat/paragon/ Go to this site and download the DST file and instructions. Delete and reset your Service Tag; that should take care of the password.

Once again Mr Plank ey you are here again touting what you believe is the right answer, and once again you have been beaten down by someone with much superior knowledge.

I have asked you before and I will ask you again please stop posting in this forum unless you are willing to offer some useful advice.

I have reported you before and I will report you again

As for the post I will not edit what is a useful tip

Good luck on the surgery.

I just found this page this morning when my employer bought a couple C400s cheap, we found out why they were cheap when I booted them up and saw that they both had the passwords on 'em. After trying to norm (battery, power button for 10s etc etc) I started googling and eventually found this thread, I've read all 33 pages so far hehe, but I also now have 2 working C400s.

email removed I will send your 6-7 attachments which total around 8mb, so make sure you have sufficient room in your Inbox. The DST.zip should be Unzipped/Extract All to a DOS Bootable Diskette made in the A:\ drive format window with W-XP or W98 . That diskette allows you to delete and then reset your SAME Service Tag. Those actions erase the EEProm Chip and the password is erased also. The .pdf file covers the shorting procedure to clear the Primary Password and is enclosed for possible future use; it has the picture of the 24C02 EEProm chip.

PLEASE CAN U HELP ME I HAVE A DELL LATITUDE 100L WILL THE SOFTWARE WORK FOR ME IF SO CAN U SEND IT TO ME THANKS MY EMAIL IS email removed

The chip is on the outer edge of the board under the HDD slot.
I can't email as you didn't leave an address, if you private message me with your email I will send you a pic with the location

If 3/6 pins do not work, try 4/6 and 4/5. In case of some doubt , the pins are numbered Counterclockwise around the chip starting with 1 in the lower left corner and 8 in the upper left as you look at the chip with the type number right side up

As a follow-up to this information.... when unlocking my D600 using Paragon33's useful information, I found that shorting pins 2 and 6 at boot got me onto a screen that said 'F1 to continue, F2 set-up'. After I pressed the F1 button, it booted straight into windows, and now seems to have forgotten that it ever had a password protecting the bios. I had to try this procedure a few times before it worked for me; as a matter of interest, shorting out the pins 'willy nilly' did get me the administrator screen but, when i pressed Fn - X it did not do anything,(I'm not saying pressing Fn-x wont work like Paragon33 says, it just seems to be a case of trial and error).

Thanks Paragon33-this was very useful information.
