emde, post here eeprom dump in binary format and i'll tell you the password.
i'll even tell from which address it starts. the rest is up to you, to think in which method the password is encrypted.

Well I don't have possibility (eg.hardware) to read it and still I didn't located eeprom in my Latitude D820 :(
Besides I still think that password can be calculated somehow from ST. Rustam was doing that, right?

Dell Latitude 520 Master password

which wires in the eeprom-cmos? this is a inspiron 1501

I already put it in pieces and found one ST chip. (this chip has 20 pins by side for a total of 40)
Ii has the following info printed on it:
ST
M29W008EB
70N6
GAOBR V5
CHN 88 619

The mobo has the following model printed on it:

DELL GX B-V0A 94V-0 0642
PWB UW509 REV: A00

DA0FX2MBAD7 REV: D

There´s another chip (which has 28 pins, 14 per side) that could be the cmos. It has the following info:
MAX8734 A
EEI 0638

more help on this will be appreciated...thanks in advance,

regards,

lorolia

Lorolia. check link removed there are pictures and lots of useful information. Chip should have 8 pins.

emde, that's right. you can't find the eeprom on laptop's MB, because there's no eeprom on the MB. information about serail number,UUID etc stored in the EC/KBC controller.
but all dell laptops that contain eeprom, store password there.

hi guys ive tried everythink to unlock my laptop and the only thing that worked for me was the short method. however i now cannot unlock my hitachi harddrive. ive tried awapwd.exe but get error messages and my service tag for my inspiron 1100 is 7 digits so it dont work with latitude.exe either. (both versions). the laptop works fine with another hdd but i cannot access my hdd on mine or my friends laptop.

so could you please tell me what to do to unlock it?

maybe I didn´t understand it very well but if there´s no eeprom here how do I do to unlock it? maybe you´re telling me the shorting method won´t work and I need to try a different procedure...
could you help me please?

lorolia, the shorting method isn't work on such model. you have to wait for rustam_, or contact me via ICQ or PM...
alwaysAmission, the HDD password was stored in eeprom... since you've erased it, you have to take HDD to real HDD specialist, who can erase password from the SM_module of HDD service area to unlock it. however, there's another way - is to put HDD in your dell notebook and input another master password for locked dell HDDs :)

OK let me understand this...

I have an inspiron 1501 and there's no way to unlock it through the short circuit procedure on the eeprom. So given that fact I have to unlock with a master password.
So the service tag of the notebook is pretty important for unlocking purposes from what I've read here.
Now I can see I really have a BIG problem here because the service tags I've seen here are composed of 7 digits + 4 digits separated by a hyphen...

But this computer do not shows the 4 extra digits after the hyphen just the first seven. I do not see more digits in the back panel of it just the service tag composed by 7 digits. What can I do?

As i said before I have NO gray screen. It shows phoenix logo bios and Turion 64 logo from AMD, I press F2 and then it asks for the password (no service tag is showed at any moment in the screen of the notebook)

So I'm asking for any help on how to know the complete service tag for this computer.

could anybody help me on this in order to provide you with the complete service tag?

thanks in advance for your time and cooperation.

lorolia - the mask is 595b. check on the MB if there are some chips with marking "SMSC". if so, the mask is 595b

The Service Tag is the first seven; the -D35B, -595B or -A95B is the Password system in use. The string from the Greyscreen must be given EXACTLY (Case Sensitive)with out the # symbol to any user of any Password Generator

Inspiron 9300 EEProm Chip

A chap sent me 2 excellent pics yesterday for the Inspiron 9300 EEProm Chip Location, if any one needs those

Dell Latitude D600

Been reading all the forums and was left a bit confused-

Model Latitude D600
My service tag is 82Q8F51-595B
ESC 17579253925

Need to reset Password at startup - getting grey screen

Ive read that the only way to reset is to use the Jumper method on the EEProm and then I read that you cant use that on 595B's and then it seems like someone has a PW generator for these and seem to charge for the service and some dont seem to charge.

Id prefer not to open the laptop up - but am able todo so it if that works.

**** Update - Successful Jump now at HDD password ****

It worked for me and I'm sure it'll work for you too although the price is a bit steep, it was well worth it in the end.

The L400, LS and Inspiron 3200 do not clear by shorting the EEProm. The 2 "L's" clear by removing 2 CMOS batteries and the Inspiron 3000/3200 respond to a progam called CMOSPWD and with a (space)/K added to the DOS command. There are a few more models that can be shorted/grounded that I know about:the Inspirons 3700, 9100, 9200 and the Latitude D810. The last one may required soldering one wire as the chip is under the video card. Any of the earlier models up to and including the C600/Inspiron 4000 that still have an early BIOS version and the -D35B Password/ServiceTag system in use can be cleared using the older Latitude Master_PW software to generate a Password

I think I found the chip to short. It says atmel 508 93c46 su27 A. Is that the correct one. It has 4 pins on each side.

No, that is a EEProm chip for a builtin LAN chipset. What model Dell do you have?
