The message board has filed a lawsuit against the UK government
In brief: The UK has issued its first fine against a company in relation to the country's Online Safety Act (OSA). Controversial US image-hosting board 4chan has been fined £20,000 (around $26,000) for failing to protect children from harmful content, an amount that is increasing by £100 (approximately $133) every day.
What just happened? Tea, officially known as "Tea Dating Advice," is a dating safety app that allows women to anonymously share information about men and potential red flag behavior. Now the top free app in the App Store, Tea has been hacked. 4Chan users linked to a public storage bucket containing about 72,000 images, including 13,000 selfies and government-issued IDs used for gender verification.
"A 4chan troll has to come out of his room," wrote the sheriff who was targeted
Facepalm: Just because you present something as a hypothetical scenario in a video game, it doesn't mean you won't be held accountable. A 38-year-old 4Chan user found this out the hard way after posting a death threat that targeted a Florida sheriff but used the words "in Minecraft" at the end. He was later arrested and is being extradited to face felony charges.
