Granite Rapids Xeons are expected to hit the market in 2H 2024
What just happened? Intel's next-gen Xeon CPUs, codenamed Granite Rapids, could come with a massive cache upgrade compared to their predecessors. While the high-end Emerald Rapids SKUs ship with up to 320MB of L3 cache, the leading Granite Rapids chips are said to offer a whopping 480MB of L3 cache.
What just happened? At this year's Hot Chips conference in Palo Alto, California, Intel revealed a ton of information about its 2024 Xeon CPUs for data centers. The company also detailed how it is using AI technology to improve the power efficiency of its next-gen desktop processor lineup.
In a nutshell: A benchmark of the upcoming 56-core Xeon W9-3495X workstation CPU was seen flexing its muscles in Geekbench. The chip achieved a multi-threaded score that is 47% higher than Intel's current Xeon Workstation flagship, the 32-core W-3375.
