Available only in arcades until now, Tekken 7 debuted today on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, offering long-time fans new characters, customization options and updated visuals that benefit from today's powerful hardware. Reviewers are giving it some mixed scores, however we're hearing positive things from PC gamers rejoicing over the franchise's arrival to the platform, even as a port, it runs on top of Unreal Engine 4 and looks gorgeous at 4K. We're planning a thorough performance test for next week, so keep tuned.
This is a next-generation Mortal Kombat in more ways than one. It features new characters, some of whom are the sons and daughters of classic Kombatants like Johnny Cage and Jax Briggs. More gore, but also more emotional plot points. You get the sense that Netherrealm is trying to infuse fresh blood into their franchise while simultaneously courting acclaim from the world of hyper-competent pro-competition players. Mostly, the ambition pays off.
