For the first time, the Unreal Engine will be used in a consumer automobile, as all displays in the new GMC Hummer EV are powered by the very same software that enables some of the most popular and visually stunning video games on the market.
A new version of the Unreal Engine just got released (4.16) full of new features and improvements. As you may recall, UE is free for most to play with. The release notes are extensive, along with a cool video showcasing some of these: low-level clothing simulation, image-based (FFT) convolution for bloom, distance field lighting optimizations, games on Nintendo Switch, and physics simulation in VR mode.
